About
Lake Village Studio is a family collaboration. Artists and designers Daniele Fratarcangeli, Mari Au Buchon, and Penelope Fratarcangeli design together to create art you want to live with.
Daniele is originally from Metro Detroit and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Crafts from the College for Creative Studies. From 2002 to 2017, he created work that was exhibited internationally. Highlights include working in Venetian art factories in Italy, teaching glassblowing classes in San Diego, and exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Everson Museum of Art, and the Oceanside Museum of Art. His work has also been featured in Cosmopolitan magazine and Design Milk. In 2017, Daniele stepped away from the art world to make wine and to better understand why he felt compelled to create in the first place. That time away reshaped his relationship with making.
Mari Au Buchon is originally from Hawaii and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Sophia University in Tokyo. She has been a long-time collaborative partner with Daniele since 2011. Her cultural perspective and design sensibility play an important role in the studio’s aesthetic approach.
In 2026, Penelope expressed an interest in a future in the arts. Her passion sparked a family collaboration and a return to the studio. Lake Village Studio is the result—a place where three artists from one family design and create together.
Each piece from Lake Village Studio is handmade in small batches, resulting in subtle variations that make every object one of a kind. The work reflects the relationships behind it—how different perspectives, generations, and sensitivities come together in form and material. We think about balance: between function and beauty, structure and softness, permanence and change. In the same way a family relies on shared rhythms and differences, each piece relies on the tension and harmony of its parts to hold together.
